Intro to Ashtanga 5 week series

(Notice: If you need to miss a class, you may make it up at any of the other mysore classes listed on the schedule but it must be during that same week.)
This course will introduce students to the basic philosophy and principles of Ashtanga. Designed for beginners to help them experience the many benefits of yoga in a safe manner, while learning the basics of Ashtanga yoga. Elements of breath, bandhas (internal energy locks), drishti (gazing points), Surya Namaskar (sun salutes) and vinyasa (linking movement) will be the emphasis in this class. Each new lesson will build on what was learned the previous week helping to commit the postures to memory. No experience is required. This class is appropriate for complete beginners, or those looking to get back into their practice.
This series will be a combination of Led and Mysore style. This will not only help in committing the sequence to memory but aid in becoming used to the mysore style class. By the end of this series, not only will you be comfortable with the mysore style you will have a practice custom tailored to your needs and something you can continue to build on in the regular mysore classes offered at the studio.
